Omnion

Tomáš Reindl is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and tabla player from Prague, Czech Republic. In his music he is often crossing the genre borders, he draws inspiration from ancient musical traditions of both East and West. At the same time, he takes advantage of contemporary approaches and music technology.

He has finished his Master degree of composition at the Academy of performing arts in Prague. Also, he graduated from the Electrotechnical Faculty of West Bohemian University in Pilsen.

Tomas has visited many workshops and private lessons in Turkey, Italy, U.K. or India. Since 1998 he has devoted himself to studying Indian Classical Music and playing the tabla drums. His teacher is tabla maestro Sanju Sahai, the leading performer of the prestigious Benares Gharana (lineage) of tabla. At the time Tomas was the only percussionist in Czech Republic playing tabla and Indian Classical music professionally.

From his compositional work the most valued is UTERO: Concerto for Cello, Tabla and Symphonic Orchestra (2015), JOGA: Special melodrama for Guru, Orchestra and Yogis (2017), or full time ballet music Zahrada soch (2010). Also, he is composing original music for theatre and film regularly.

Awards and nominations

JPFolks Awards 2017 in two categories: Asian song (Pyg-meje) and World song (Sanctus-Gayatrí).

Independent Music Awards 2020: The song Trayambakam from the new album Omnion II nominated in the category World Beat Song.

The track FROZEN TABLA won the 1st prize for the Czech Republic in the Musica Nova 2019 international competition of electro-acoustic music.
